Cut List & Parts

  • 6 1x4" Boards - Bottom Of Tray , 28-1/8"
  • 2 1x2" - Side Trim Of Tray , 21"

Directions

  • Step 1:

Cut your 1x4 boards to 28-1/8", you should cut (6) identical boards

  • Step 2:

Cut your 1x2 boards to 21", you should cut (2) identical boards

  • Step 3:

Begin to drill your pocket holes into your 1x4 boards by using your Kreg Jig K5, setting the jig to 3/4".

  • Step 4:

Drill 3 pocket holes into (5) 1x4 boards, leaving one board without pocket holes.

  • Step 5:

Line up your cut 1x4x28-1/8" boards evenly, placing the board without pocket holes in the middle.

  • Step 6:

Begin attaching your boards together using 1-1/4" Kreg screws

  • Step 7:

Stain the base and 2 ends (not yet assembled) of your tray with your favorite colored stain

  • Step 8:

Attach the handles to the middle of your 1x2x21" boards, sinking the screws into the wood so that the wood will sit flush on the bottom part of your tray once assembled. The 4" handles we decided to use were found at Home Depot in their cabinet hardware section.

  • Step 9:

Attach your side trim with handles attached to the base of your tray using 1-1/4" wood screws, screwing the trim in from the bottom.

  • Add a finishing touch:

Using my Silhouette Cameo machine, I designed and cut out a vinyl template to personalize our tray. If you don't have a Silhouette or a Cricut machine available to you, you can also personalize by hand painting your own handwriting or even have the kiddos hand prints painted onto the tray for a fun gift for any mom, dad or grandparent! This tray fits perfectly on top of any standard stove top.
