The illustrations you see in our Certified plans are created using a program called SketchUp. You can do the same, too, because there’s a free version called SketchUp Make available, which you can download here.

SketchUp Make does nearly everything that the SketchUp Pro version we use does. You can model almost anything you can imagine in 3D, and then create view models with callouts, dimensions, etc. DIYers, woodworkers, and even architects use SketchUp to create everything from simple boxes to entire buildings with landscapes.

Of course, you’ll have to learn how to use the program, but there are lots of tutorials online. Since it’s free, you have nothing to lose by downloading a copy and playing around. It’s a great way to design your own projects; perfect for creating project plans that you’d like to post here on buildsomething.com

Is there a reason that the plans listed on this website are not available in "Sketchup" format? That would make it so much easier to download, adjust and print.
