Hi,
I plan to start an important project, not important as in high scale, or complex, but Important as in I want to build an exterior tabletop, and offer it as a retirement gift for a dear friend. I'd like the end result to be as near perfect as I'm able to do.

My plan is pocket hole joining 2x6 side by side but with transversal 2x6 mitered at both ends to hide any end grain. I have enclosed a picture. It kind of looks like a door ;o)

My question and concern is the actual order or flow in which I cut the pieces to their final sizes, and then in which order I join em (to get best possible result).

Thanks in advance,

PS: I have dewalt table + miter saw, kreg k4 jig
The tabletop would be cedar, all 2 x 6. Overall 54" long, 22" deep
