Simple Clamp to make Cutting boards

On my first plan, I bring an easy way to build a cheap and basic clamp useful in order to make cutting boards.
You can use this to clamp and glue other thin projects as well.
I think it´s really helpful especially for beginners.
I'm not good at writing plans. I hope this is understandable though.

Directions

Follow the steps below to complete this project.

1

Thread bar

First of all, it's unusual to find a 19" long thread bar in the hardware store, so you get a whole bar and cut it with a hacksaw. Mark 19" (or 50cm) and saw it. You must end up with 6 bars 19" long and 3/4" thick. File the ends to remove the metal burr and free the thread.

2

Wooden pieces

Using the table saw, take some hardwood and cut 6 equal pieces as follows: thickness = 1 3/16" (3cm) width x length = 1 3/8" x 3 15/16" (3,5cmx10cm) It must be some hardwood to support the pressure.

3

Hole in Wooden pieces

You must make the holes to put the thread bar into it, so mark the centre of the piece in width and on both sides you have to mark 19/32" (15mm) from each end (length). Using a drill (right angle), make a hole with a drill bit slightly larger than the thread bar (25/32" or 13/16"), so the bars will slide freely inside the wooden pieces. Sand the pieces with a sandpaper to remove splinters and make the surface smoother.

4

Set up

Screw one nut at the end of each bar. Get two bars for each wooden piece and slide them into the holes until they stop. Put the three other wooden pieces left in each clamp and screw the left nuts as well in each thread bar. You'll end up with 3 clamp bars to join wooden pieces to make cutting boards.

5

Done

You can use a wrench to drive the nuts and tight the board. Next plan I'm going to demonstrate how can you use that. Thanks for reading.
