Hickory End Tables with Tile Tops and Single Drawer.

Directions

Follow the steps below to complete this project.

Cut Rails

Cut 8 rails.

Route Rails for Panels

Route rails to accept 1/2 Panels, I used the table saw cutting 1/2" x 1/2" notch.

Cut Panels

Cut 1/2" plywood to create panels.

Glue Up Panels

Use the plywood that was cut down and glue it in the rails.

Cut Pocket Holes in Panels

Cut pocket holes in the rails of the panels. Cut them in each corner and along one edge.

Cut Legs

Cut 2x2 material for legs

Attach Panels to Legs

Attach panels to legs using pocket screws. Use a piece of 3/4" material to create an offset on the legs.

Continue Attaching Panels to Legs

Continue attaching panels to legs.

Attach Rails for Drawer Opening

Attach rails for the drawer opening. Line up the top and bottoms of the rails with the already attached panels.

Cut Material for Drawer Front

Cut materials for drawer fronts.

Cut Notch for Panel

Cut a 1/2" x 1/2" notch in materials for drawer fronts.

Glue Up Drawer Fronts

Glue up drawer fronts.

Cut Materials for Drawer Boxes

Cut Materials for drawer boxes.

Cut Notch in Bottom of Drawer Boxes

Cut a 1/4" x 1/2" notch the bottom of the drawer materials. 1/4 material is used for the bottoms.

Cut Pocket Holes in Drawer Material

Cut Pocket Holes in Drawer Material.

Assemble Drawer Boxes

Assemble Drawer Boxes

Attach Drawer Bottoms

Attach drawer bottoms using 1" brad nails.

Create Tops

Create tops by cutting 3/4" plywood 22-1/2" x 22-1/2" material. Cut pocket holes around the edge and to allow for attaching 1x2 hickory pieces mitered at the corners.

Edge Band Tops

Attach 1x2s to the top using pocket holes. Use a 3/8" piece of material to create an offset for tile.

Attach Tops

Attach top to the frame using glue and pocket holes.

Attach Drawer Fronts

Attach drawer fronts using glue and screws from inside the drawer box.

Sand and Finish

Sand all visible parts and finish. I chose a semi gloss spray poly.

Install Drawer Hardware

Install drawer hardware. Attach a scrap block to the side of the panels to allow for attaching the drawer hardware.

Attach Handle

Install Tile Top

Cut tiles for top. Use a construction adhesive to glue down the tile.

(4) Edge Banding, 1x2-24"  
(8) Panel Rails, 1x2-20-1/2"  
(2) Drawer Front Rail, 1x2 - 20"  
(2) Drawer Front Stile, 1x2-3"  
(3) Side Panel Inserts, 20-1/2" x 6-1/2"  
(1) Drawer Front Insert, 21" x 4"  
(2) Drawer Stile Stop, 3/4" x 3/4" - 5"  
(1) Top, 3/4" x 22-1/2" x 22-1/2"  
(4) Drawer Box Materials, 3/4" x 3-1/2" x 18"  
(1) Drawer Bottom, 1/4" x 17-1/2" x 19"
