Plywood Shelves for Closet

Make that closet space function like it should with easy plywood shelving. You'll be kicking yourself for not installing these plywood shelves a long time ago. Customize to fit your closet space and you'll want to tackle all the closets in your home!

Directions

Follow the steps below to complete this project.

Step 1

Cut 1x2 wall cleats to fit the depth of your closet space. Two cleats per shelf.

Step 2

Attach 1x2 cleats to wall using construction adhesive and 2" finish nails. Be sure to use a level and keep cleats in pairs.

Step 3

Cut plywood shelves to fit. Measure depth of space x width of closet space. Place shelves into position on 1x2 cleats.

Step 4

Cut 1x3 front trim to fit each shelf front.

Materials Required:

Wood Products:

(1) 3/4" Thick, Full Sheet, Plywood  
(2) 1x2, 96", Board  
(2) 1x3, 96", Board  

Hardware/Supplies:

(50) 2" finish nails  
(25) 1 1/4" finish nails  

Parts/Cut List:

(5) shelves, 3/4" x 13" x 23"  
(10) wall cleats, 1 x 2 x 13"  
(5) shelf trim, 1 x 3 x 22 1/4"
