Here is a plan for a Saddle Stand. The basic plan makes a solid stand and can be customized to your look. I used 90% repurposed pallet hardwood but any wood can be used for a stunning piece. I also included a materials list and build out plan. ENJOY!

Directions

Follow the steps below to complete this project.

1

Parts/Materials

I have included a detailed sheet with all the sizes and number of parts needed to complete this project. I also included areas where I used my Kreg Jig the pre drill my pocket holes.

2

Prep

Using my guides I prepped all of the wood and drilled all of the pocket holes ahead of time. All of the prep makes for a accurate and speedy assembly.

3

Layout

After prepping all of the pieces I laid them out and created a color/stain scheme. you can stain/paint after assembly but I prefer to stain and do a "patch work" of colors. I also have a few custom carving I did that I am adding to this. Here is where you can can make it your own look.

4

Assembly

I included an assembly sheet that is a reference on how I prefer to assemble this project. If all of your prep work is done then this process should go smooth

5

Step 1 Assembly

Following the assembly sheet and you will make each end piece. Assemble the front and back to the base stands. Add the shelve bracket.

6

Step 2 & 3 Assembly

Next you will install the base slats I made a .25" gap guide so it was easier to create a consistent gap between the slats. I then installed the sides of the box. They are mounted flush to the base of the box using pocket holes to the inside of the box.

7

Step 4 Assembly

The final pieces are the top bars. Start by finding the center of the top and mount the first one. These will mount flush to the top of the end pieces (A) Next measure 5" down on each side and mount the second bar. repeat 2 more times and then repeat on the other side of the center bar.

Customizing

I happen to do a carving that was intended for this Saddle rack but you can mount hooks for tack or custom paint your saddle rack.
